Connecticut’s Fourth Wave Drug Crisis: Emerging Trends and Treatment Pathways

ASD Learning Collaborative: Best Practices in Service Delivery

The Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership (CT BHP), in collaboration with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) team at Carelon Behavioral Health CT (Carelon BH CT) is pleased to announce an ASD Provider Learning Collaborative. This collaborative aims to promote best practices in delivering ASD services to HUSKY Health(Medicaid) members, which includes:

  • Providing services through telehealth or in-person settings, especially focusing on caregiver involvement.
  • Creating a consistent approach for accepting service referrals.
  • Highlighting the need for discharge forms that include clinical recommendations when referring members for Care Coordination.
  • Ensuring that service authorization is based on the member’s clinical needs, with billing reflecting the actual hours of service provided to the member and their family.

Training Series: Crisis Supports and Suicide Prevention for People with Autism 

Research has shown suicide to be a leading cause of death for people with autism. This series will cover the warning signs, unique risk factors, statistics of suicide, and how to be culturally aware when working with this population. People with autism think, communicate, and experience the world differently. This series will describe five autism-specific resources to use in supporting these individuals around suicide prevention and crisis support. Join Lisa Morgan, MSW, M.Ed. CAS, for a three-part training series exploring:

  • Research and Risk Factors 
  • Communication and Support in Crisis 
  • Fireside Chat Hosted by Jennifer Krom, LPC, CT BHP Director of Autism Services, Carelon Behavioral Health

While encouraged, attendance at all sessions is not required.

SUD System Integration: Enhancing the Patient Journey Throughout the Continuum of Care

Providers from the inpatient withdrawal management, inpatient psychiatric, emergency department, and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) residential levels of care to convene for a collaborative discussion to enhance the delivery of SUD services. This workgroup aims to support the coordination of referrals throughout the continuum and offer a platform in which providers can share challenges and successes with referring to ASAM 3.3-3.7 levels of care. 

Topics covered: 

  • Overview of the ASAM 3.3-3.7 levels of care
  • Spotlight from providers on their experience in making referrals under the 1115 waiver 
  • ASAM resource tool and training opportunities

ASD Learning Collaborative: Best Practices in Quality Assurance & Audit Protocols

The Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership (CT BHP) in collaboration with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) team at Carelon Behavioral Health CT (Carelon BH CT) is pleased to announce an ASD Provider Learning Collaborative. This collaborative will focus on ensuring best practices when providing ASD services to HUSKY Health members, including the Carelon BH CT chart review process, the Department of Social Services (DSS) Audit protocol and regulations, and standards of care presented by the Autism Commission on Quality. This collaborative will include representation from the Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Gainwell Technologies and Carelon BH CT.


Connecticut Suicide Advisory Board (CT SAB)  – Lived Experience Committee Series

April 17, 2024 – 10: am to 11:00 am – Why we didn’t tell you: Youth

Join presenters from the CT SAB Lived Experience Committee for an interactive workshop on: reducing stigma by discussing lived experience and the systems meant to support individuals. Although encouraged, attendance at all sessions is not required.

ASD Learning Collaborative: Becoming an ASD Provider 

The Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership (CT BHP) in collaboration with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) team at Carelon Behavioral Health CT (Carelon BH CT) is pleased to announce an ASD Provider Learning Collaborative. This learning collaborative will focus on becoming an ASD Enrolled Provider, including steps toward qualification, enrollment, and affiliation. The presentation will also include guidance on re-enrollment. This Learning Collaborative will include representation from the Department of Children & Families (DCF), the Department of Social Services (DSS), the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Gainwell Technologies, and Carelon BH CT.

Statewide Community Care Team (CCT) Forum
